Dean Bennett – Director
Among his many accomplishments and awards, Dean has been a director on 10 seasons of Heartland for CBC, and a TV movie A Heartland Christmas, the TV Series Dinosapien, and Waking up Wally, The Walter Gretzky Story, Shoebox Zoo, a North of 60 Feature Film, Distant Drumming, and Tom Stone Season II.
Andrew Wreggitt – Writer & Producer
Andrew is an award-winning screenwriter, producer and showrunner. He has written over 75 hours of network television for one-hour dramas such as Destiny Ridge, North of 60, Black Harbour, Tom Stone, The Dealership (pilot), Flashpoint and Heartland and sixteen movies and mini-series. His CBC movie The Phantoms won a 2014 International Emmy award. Borealis, a movie for the Space Channel which he wrote and executive produced won the 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Best Movie or Mini-Series and best Best Writing. Other movies include Jack: The Jack Layton Story, Wrath of Grapes: The Don Cherry Story, Mayerthorpe, Sticks and Stones, One Dead Indian, Shades of Black, Corner Gas, four in the North of 60 Mystery series and three in the Joanne Kilbourn Mystery series.
Nick Thomas – Director of Photography
Nick Thomas is an award-winning Director of Photography & Co-founder of the production boutique DDG which was founded in 2007. For three years he was also a brand ambassador for Canon as a Northern Explorer of Light. Nick has over 15 years experience working in the film and television industry and has worked on a wide variety of commercial productions which have aired on ABC, NBC, CBC, Global, CTV, ESPN, MTV Canada, The Discovery Channel and Movie Central. Some of Nick’s commercial clients have included 3M, Siemens, Mercedes Benz, McDonald’s, Volkswagen, Shaw, Bell, Telus, TED, Herschel, Molson Canadian & Heineken.
Kevin McGarry – Lead Cast, “Greg Price”
Kevin McGarry is currently starring on CBC’s Heartland. He wrapped two films with Hallmark earlier this year and is set to star in the romantic comedy “The Ranch in May. Last year Kevin could be found featured in the film XXX: The Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel, “The Code” on Global TV, starring Jason Priestly, “Brace for Impact” with Kerry Condon by Incendo Prod, and CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries with William Shatner. He starred in the series Open Heart on YTV, Teennick, and ABC spark as Dr. Timothy “Hud” Hudson, Some of Kevin’s past film and television credits include Sign Sealed and Delivered (Hallmark) Saw 7, Being Erica (CBC), Turn the Beat Around, The Fifth Sun, Cigarettes Hurt Babies, Pickled, Love Bites (TBS). Kevin also has a strong theatre background with 2 seasons at the renowned Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-lake in productions of His Girl Friday, Enchanted April, Come Back Little Sheba, and Peace in Our Time as well as a season at the Charlottetown Festival playing in Anne of Green Gables, and The Full Monty musical. Other theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Complete Work of William Shakespeare, and She Loves Me to name a few.
Tom Cox – Producer
Tom Cox is Managing Director of Calgary-based SEVEN24 Films. His productions span thirty years and include award-winning feature films, dramatic series, mini-series and television movies. Current productions include Wynonna Earp, a supernatural series for Syfy, and Heartland, a family drama series now in its tenth broadcast season on CBC. Previous television credits include Young Drunk Punk, Wild Roses, Tom Stone and North of 60. Feature film co-productions include Brokeback Mountain and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Tom is a board member and past Chair of the Alberta Media Production Industries Association and the Canadian Media Production Association. He is a member of the Banff World Media Festival board of directors, and past Chair and board member of the National Screen Institute. He has served on the Alberta Film Advisory Council and the Premier’s Council on Culture. Tom is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his contribution to the arts.
Rebecca (Becky) Shaw – Writer & Producer
Becky Shaw has had an extensive career as a writer, both in advertising and in film/theatre. She has worked for many Calgary ad agencies and has written television, radio and print ads; annual reports; and numerous educational and industrial films. She also was as an instructor at Mount Royal University; as a Corporate Communications Specialist for Nova Corporation; and as a Supervising Writer/Editor for the University of Calgary Public Affairs Office. Becky has written six plays including The Wild Guys (co-written with Andrew Wreggitt), which became a box-office hit in more than 80 theatres across North America. As well, Becky worked as a script analyst for Telefilm Canada; “A” Channel; Corus Entertainment; and Shaw Children’s Programming Initiative, and writer-mentor for the BOTZ project, sponsored by Telus Optik Fund, 2015-2016.
Karen Pickles – Producer
Karen’s credits span The Tom Green Show, 6 seasons of an award-winning documentary series Fish Out of Water for APTN, a feature film Burlesque Assassins for SuperChannel, a dramatic pilot Wilmore Boys for Wild TV, and a Gemini-nominated performing arts doc for Bravo!, Joni Mitchell’s The Fiddle and The Drum which Joni refers to as the most important project of her artistic career. Karen operates her own company, Dreamers Rock Productions in Calgary.
